TALK TO Introduction

Greetings,
This is an introduction to using the TALK TO section of your BRAIN BOOKŪ.  The TALK TO section is tabbed in yellow, and is to the left of your TODAY tab when your book is opened up to TODAY's "SCHEDULE and Memory Notes" page.  The TALK TO section helps you retrieve and organize your thoughts before talking to people.  Background The TALK TO section is designed to give you a single place to look for all the things you want to talk to different people about.  When you first get your BRAIN BOOK, you should set up the section by filling out one TALK TO page for every person with whom you have regular contact (also one page for each person you may need to talk to later, like a doctor or a lawyer perhaps).  See a sample TALK TO page This is what a TALK TO page looks like:

This is an example of a TALK TO page a BRAIN BOOK user might have to keep track of all the things they want to talk to their doctor about.

Each TALK TO page should have a person's name on it (like your doctor, lawyer, boss, husband, wife or friends).

As the days go by, you would make entries on TALK TO pages so that when it comes time to talk to the person, all the thoughts you have accumulated are in one place.

No more blank spots during appointments! No more forgotten thoughts!

All you need to do is get in the habit of looking at TALK TO pages before meetings or calls. For a strategy to do this, see the next image.

How to make the TALK TO Section work for you!  The TALK TO section works well as soon as you learn to consistently write Memory Notes during the day.  When you do your "BRAIN BOOK Clean Up" at the end of the day, be sure to write any "TALK TO" notes you might need to use later.

As time goes on (throughout the day, the week, whatever), you will end up collecting all kinds of thoughts, ideas, questions, etc. to write on different people's TALK TO pages. Then, when you see or speak with the person, all you have to do is look at the page with their name on it, and all your ideas are in one place!

You can have access to all your thoughts about what you want to talk about -- almost the same way you used to be able to rely on your organic memory to do this!

How to cue yourself to look at your TALK TO Section A good strategy for ensuring that you will look at the TALK TO section before meeting with or calling someone is to write "(See TALK TO section)" next to the relevant SCHEDULE note. To see how the person in the example we are using did this, see the following SCHEDULE page:

By writing "See TALK TO" next to the time you have scheduled to talk to a person, you will cue yourself to look at the appropriate page in your TALK TO section.

See next image for Dr. Jones' TALK TO page.

Where to write the results of your conversations with people?

The results of your conversations should NOT be written on the TALK TO pages.  Instead, notes about the conversation with the person should be written on that day's Memory Notes page (the day you actually talked to the person).

You should then "orange out" the TALK TO entry (as your code to yourself that you are "done" talking to the person about the topic), and then you could "cross reference" TALK TO page notes and Memory Notes if you want to be able to look it up or "refresh your memory" later.  See the example below:

This is an example of a TALK TO page, as it should look after you have completed a particular conversation with the person named at the top of the page.

Orange through the topics is your code to yourself that you have talked to this person about these things (you are "done" with these particular topics).

The note underneath, in parenthesis, referencing the Memory Notes page and line numbers), give you a way to look up the results of the conversation (in this case, you would know to look on the Memory Notes page for 7/7, on lines 7-11).
